Containerised Solar Power Stations Explained

A containerised solar power station is a complete solar plant — panels, inverters and battery storage — pre-built and tested inside a weatherproof container, then delivered and commissioned on site. For remote or high-demand South African operations, it is the fastest route to reliable, off-grid power.

What is inside the container

Everything needed to generate, store and manage power ships as one tested unit:

  • Solar panels (roof-mounted or deployed alongside the container)
  • Inverters that convert and manage the power flow
  • A scalable battery bank sized to the site load
  • Air-conditioning and fire suppression to protect the electronics
  • Remote monitoring so output, battery and grid status are visible from anywhere

Why containerised instead of a fixed install

Because it is assembled and tested in a controlled environment, a containerised station arrives ready to run — far less on-site work, and no reliance on local grid infrastructure. It is weatherproof, secure, and can be relocated if the operation moves.

For mines, farms, telecom towers and construction sites — often far from a reliable grid — this turns "months of civils and wiring" into "delivered and switched on".

Off-grid capable, monitored, supported

Our stations are 100% off-grid capable: size the PV array and battery to the load and the site runs on solar alone, using the grid only as a top-up where one exists. Every SST station is monitored 24/7 through our own IoT platform, with a sub-48-hour support response.

Frequently asked questions

How big can a containerised solar station be?

They scale from a single compact enclosure to multi-cabinet stations with tens of kW of inverter output and large battery banks. We size the container to your load profile.

Can it run completely off-grid?

Yes. With the PV array and battery sized to your demand, the station runs entirely on solar and stored energy, independent of Eskom.

Can the station be moved later?

Yes — because everything is housed in the container, a station can be relocated if your operation moves or a temporary site closes.
